The Thornton Creek community is a diverse mix of students, staff, families, and neighbors with a common interest in the education of our children. The concept of "community" is at the core of the Thornton Creek mission. As an ELOB-Expeditionary Learning School, Thornton Creek strives to engage and develop community in several ways. In the classroom, students build community through collaborative learning styles and exercises. Throughout the school, students and staff come together to share experiences, develop synergies of skills and expertise, and expand knowledge. In the classroom, around the school, and on field trips, Thornton Creek students, staff, and parent volunteers work together to foster collaborative and respectful relationships, to learn about social responsibility, develop empathy, and affect positive social change through involvement in local, national, and international activities. This community approach depends on the active involvement of parent volunteers. Thornton Creek is tremendously fortunate to have a very active and engaged parent population.
