Steps to Success
Are you ready to solicit donations? This can
be a fun and exciting process. And, every donation you secure
means more
money for AE2/Thornton Creek School and our children's education.
Follow these easy steps to secure donations
- Download your donation
letter and donation
form.
- Contact businesses,
preferably by walking in or via phone. Use the mailed donation
letter and form as a follow-up after
phone contact. Please include a self-addressed stamped envelope. (Save
your receipts for postage and give them to Nova for reimbursement
Or, you can provide your own postage as a donation.
More envelopes
can be found in the school office. Jenny and Lin will let
you use the school stamp for the return address.)
- Follow up with
the businesses about two weeks after your initial contact
and make sure the business returns the Donor
Form. Offer to pick up the form at the business, if that helps.
Continue to follow up about every two weeks, if there is interest
in donating to the school.
- Return your completed
forms to the AE2/Thornton Creek School office, and drop them
in the Auction Donations
Box. Include photos, samples,
brochures, etc. as appropriate, to help us display the items
at the event and promote them in the printed and online catalogs.
If
there are large items to be stored, contact Anji
Jarvis for
more information.

Suggested Talking Points:
Introduce yourself to
the potential donor.
Let them know that
AE2/Thornton Creek School
is an alternative
Seattle Public School
with approximately
300 children and
250 families (all
potential customers!).
The auction is
April 12, 2008.
Our theme is
Steppin' Out For Our Kids.
The auction is the
school’s annual major
fundraiser; our goal is
to raise $90,000 this year.
Funds raised will support:
reduced
class size;
the music, art and
expeditionary
learning programs;
in-class academic
assistants for students;
and classroom supplies
for teachers.
Donations will be
featured in our new online
catalog, which can include a
link to
the donor's Web site
(good advertising).
