Programs


The African American Academy draws students from all over the District. An African-centered education recognizes the fact that humanity began in Africa and acknowledges the contributions of all people and cultures. Classroom instruction recognizes the fact that humanity began in Africa and acknowledges the contributions of all peoples and cultures. Classroom instruction addresses the academic, social, and emotional needs of our scholars. Instruction at the Academy places and emphasis on the history, culture, and heritage of African and African American people, using and interdisciplinary model which reaches every classroom and grade level.

Some of the programs, services, and activities we offer to enhance our curriculum include:
