Homework Expectations
Parents, students, and teachers have different roles when it comes to successfully completing weekly homework assignments. The following chart should help you to define these roles a little more clearly. Please talk about these roles together and discuss how you can create a homework system that will work for this year.

| Establish a regular time for homework | Keep track of books and assignments | Provide instruction. |
| Establish a regular place for homework | Start on time and allow time to finish work. | Provide materials. |
| Provide necessary materials and supplies | Do his or her own work with only limited assistance. | Provide deadlines. |
| Provide limited instruction and assistance | Turn the work in on time. | Provide encouragement. |
| Establish logical consequences for noncompliance and follow through. | Accept responsibility for grades or other consequences. | Provide feedback regarding work returned. |
