Information about summer testing for students who moved to Seattle after October 2012 will be posted by May 31. Please note: students who were living in Seattle before October 2012 are not eligible for summer testing.
Early Entrance to Kindergarten Applications were due by April 30. No further applications are being accepted.
Students eligible for Spectrum or APP maintain their eligibility year to year as long as they are enrolled in an ALO school or a Spectrum or APP classroom.
Participating in Advanced Learning Programs
Seattle Public Schools offers several programs for students who require a rigorous and accelerated curriculum. See links below for program descriptions. Click Program Sites on menu at right for program locations.
- Accelerated Progress Program (APP)
- Advanced Learning Opportunities Schools(ALO)
- Spectrum
- Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate
To enroll in either the Accelerated Progress Program (APP), or the Spectrum program requires eligibility testing and an on-time application. Participation in an Advanced Learning Opportunity (ALO) program at an ALO school does not require eligibility testing but is encouraged. Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses are offered to all students in high school that have completed the prerequisite courses in a particular subject.

Twice Exceptional Learners
In the field of gifted education, students who are both gifted and disabled are considered twice-exceptional learners.
