Transportation

The Seattle Public Schools Transportation Department provides yellow bus, door-to-door, Metro, and cab service to a variety of students attending Seattle Public Schools and Head Start.

Transportation Service Standards

Transportation Service Standards for the 2013-14 school year were approved at the school board meeting February 6, 2013.  More information about the standards are available below:

In the transportation plan, transportation eligibility for attendance area elementary and K-8 students is based on a pre-defined transportation zone around each school. Students within the transportation zone and outside the walk zone for a school will be eligible for district provided transportation.

Eligibility for Middle School, High School, and Option School (all grades) students varies by grade and school.  See the Transportation Standards for details.

Superintendent's Task Force

To better control costs and improve service, last year the District reorganized its Transportation Department and requested assistance from community members, educational program experts, and transportation experts to serve on the Superintendent’s Student Transportation Taskforce.  Their Recommendations can be viewed here.
