Roosevelt student accepted to first-ever national Youth Symphony Orchestra

Will Langlie-Miletich, a 10th-grader at Roosevelt High School and a bass player at the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras (SYSO) has been selected to the first-ever National Youth Symphony Orchestra of the United States of America.
 
Will Langlie-MiletichLanglie-Miletich is one of five exceptional young musicians in the orchestral training program from Washington state who have won entrance into the national orchestra.

Langlie-Miletich has been with SYSO for three years, and participated in the Marrowstone Music Festival in 2011. He also received support from SYSO's Endangered Instrument Program, which provides free coaches to public school music students learning to play a less-commonly played instrument.

Following a comprehensive audition process, he was selected as one of 120 exceptional young musicians from 42 states and recognized as being among the finest in the country.

These youth musicians will come together from June 30 through July 23, 2013, to first participate in an intensive two-week training -- then embark on an international tour with stops at Washington, D.C.'s Kennedy Center, Moscow, St. Petersburg, and London.

70th Anniversary Gala Concert
The community is invited to celebrate the Seattle Youth Symphony and hear all the talented young musicians in their orchestras at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 28 at a gala concert. The program showcases the full breadth of the Youth Symphony training program - from musicians as young as 7 years old to college-level performers.
