Eckstein Middle School team wins girls basketball championship
The Eckstein Middle School girls basketball team won the middle school championship last month, making it the third year in a row that the school has won the middle school championship.
Five of the team members – Taylor Chambers, Josephine Huletz, Alexi Kyro, Reyna Lacalli, and Serena Toney – have been playing together since the sixth grade.
Last summer, the 7th-grade team – consisting of most of the current 8th-grade team – placed second in the nation for the 7th-grade girls AAU National Basketball Division 1 competition in Ohio (right photo). There were more than 100 teams that competed under Division 1 and Division 2 from across the country.
