A message from the Superintendent
March 1, 2013
Dear Seattle Public Schools staff, families and community:

March is Service Awareness Month (SAM) at Seattle Public Schools and is an opportunity to ensure we are creating a service-orientated attitude and culture of excellence in our community.
As public servants, we must remember that we are here to serve our students and families. This month is a great opportunity to celebrate our success and promote a service-oriented culture of excellence for schools and community.
We are seeing a lot of improvement at Seattle Public Schools. Our enrollment is growing, our test scores are improving and our graduation rate is on the rise. The vast majority of our staff members are doing an excellent job at reaching out and communicating to our families and students. We want to continue this positive trend.
During this month, I look forward to highlighting some of the excellent customer service all of you exhibit every day. I also hope this spurs conversations about how we can ensure strong and positive internal communications, including maintaining constructive relationships with our co-workers and working together in a spirit of collaboration.
I look forward to continued conversations about how we can improve service to our families and community. And thank you for your continued good work on behalf of our students and schools.
