A message from the Superintendent
Dec. 12, 2012
Dear Seattle Public Schools families and community:
As we enter the holiday season, I want to take a moment to thank you and wish you a happy New Year.
I’ve been the Superintendent for six months, and I have enjoyed getting to know our schools, our staff, our families and our community. I am honored to be here serving students and families, and working to ensure each child receives a high quality education.
We have much to be thankful for at Seattle Public Schools. Our enrollment is increasing, our graduation rate is up and we are seeing an increase in our students’ academic progress. But we have much work to do. I am looking forward to a strong focus on teaching and learning in 2013, as well as finding solutions to meet the challenges of our growing enrollment.
Thank you for everything you do for our students and schools.
Best wishes for a safe and happy holiday season!
Sincerely,

José Banda
Superintendent
Seattle Public Schools
