Students, families invited to learn about applying for college financial aid
Six 'College Goal Sunday' events scheduled across the District
Students and families are invited next month to attend 'College Goal Sunday,' a series of statewide events that provide free information and assistance to students and families who are applying for financial aid for post secondary education. The event will help them complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is an essential first step in accessing college financial aid.
Seattle Public Schools will be hosting six College Goal Sunday events across the District. Trained volunteers will be on hand at each site to walk students through the FAFSA process.
The goal is to have all seniors at Seattle Public Schools complete the FAFSA. College Bound Scholarship seniors must complete their FAFSA by January 31, 2012, in order to meet the deadline for priority funding.
College Goal Sunday dates and locations are listed below:
• Jan. 9 (3-7 p.m.), Cleveland High School
• Jan. 10 (6-8 p.m.), Franklin High School
• Jan. 16 (6-8 p.m.), Roosevelt High School
• Jan. 16 (4:30-7:30 p.m.), Rainier Beach High School
• Jan. 23 (6-8 p.m.), Ingraham High School
• Jan. 24 (6:30-8:30 p.m.), West Seattle High School
