Enroll early in Seattle Public Schools kindergarten for 2013-14
The City of Seattle’s Human Services Department is partnering with Seattle Public Schools and the Seattle Early Education Collaborative to host early kindergarten enrollment nights at several Seattle elementary schools through mid-January 2013. For a list of enrollment night locations, please see below.
Families who attend will have a chance to meet school principals and hear from kindergarten teachers and Seattle Public Schools enrollment specialists who will help families enroll in kindergarten and answer questions about what to expect in kindergarten. Child care, dinner, interpreters, resources, technical assistance, and translation of materials, will be provided.
“Early Enrollment is important because all children deserve an equal start on the first day of kindergarten,” said Dannette R. Smith, Director of the Seattle Human Services Department.
Other community partners include Child Care Resources, Powerful Schools, PTSA, Public Health- Seattle & King County, Seattle Public Library, Seattle University, Parent Leaders (Getting School Ready Teams), and Community Day School Association.
Children must be 5 years old by August 31 of the year they plan to begin kindergarten and provide the following documentation:
• Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS)
• Photo ID of the parent/guardian registering the student
• Address verification documents
• Birth certificate (or similar document such as a passport)
