A message from the Superintendent
Nov. 1, 2012
Good morning,
I am writing to you this morning to give you a preview of the State of the District. The attached report will go to families and the community later today. This report includes highlights from the District Scorecard and individual School Reports.
The state of Seattle Public Schools is strong. Our academic performance is improving, and we have more students are enrolling every year. We have much to be proud of, and I am pleased to be working alongside you to ensure each student receives a high quality education. I am impressed with our principals, our teachers and our staff. Thank you for the work you are doing every day.
I am presenting the State of the District to the community later today, and again starting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at the John Stanford Center auditorium. You can also watch the presentation online – look for a link in the next few days on our homepage, www.seattleschools.org. It will also air on cable channel 26, weekdays at 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. and weekends at 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Click here for PowerPoint presentation.
In the four months since I have been Superintendent, I have enjoyed meeting many of you and spending time in schools and classrooms. We started the school year strong, and I am looking forward to working together and making sure we continue our current upward trend.
Sincerely,

José Banda
Superintendent
Seattle Public Schools
