Phil Brockman
Executive Director of K-12 Operations
Phil Brockman has been a teacher and administrator at Seattle Public Schools for nearly 30 years, starting out as a math and physical education teacher at Rainier Beach High School in 1983. He served as an assistant principal at Madison Middle School from 1992-1997, as principal of McClure Middle School from 1997-2000, and as principal of West Seattle High School from 2000-2004 before returning to his alma mater, Ballard High School, where he has been principal for the past five years. In 2009, Brockman received the Alliance for Education’s Thomas B. Foster Award for Excellence for outstanding leadership. Brockman also served as interim director of high schools from February-August 2007, prior to Michael Tolley’s hiring. Brockman received a Bachelor of Arts in physical education and health from Central Washington University in June 1981, a bachelor of science in business administration in June 1982, and a Masters in Education – School Administration from Seattle University in June 1992.
