Funding our schools: Renewing the 2013 BEX and Operations levies
Seattle Public Schools is holding two more community meetings this week on the upcoming BEX IV and Operations levies, which expire in 2013. The first meeting was held Sept. 20 at Whitman Middle School.
The full list of projects on the proposed BEX IV list is available at the Building Excellence (BEX) Capital Projects website.
Enrollment at Seattle Public Schools is on the rise, and with this growth we are planning for long-term capacity management, as well as updating our aging buildings. Part of this solution is renewal of our Building Excellence (or BEX) Capital Levy and our Operations Levy.
The School Board is expected to vote on the final project list for BEX IV in early November, and the two levies go to the voters in February 2013.

The next two community meetings scheduled on the BEX IV capital levy will be held:
• 6:30-8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 24 at Madison Middle School, 3429 45th Ave. S.W.; and
• 6:30-8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27 at McClure Middle School, 1915 1st Ave. W.
