Local companies, organizations hand out free school supplies to all Concord International School students
Concord International School students received free school supplies Sept. 7, thanks to the Seafair Clowns and employees from Gary Merlino Construction, and Stoneway Concrete and their affiliated companies.
Seattle Fire Chief Gregory Dean and Seattle firefighters from South Park Fire Station 26 and other community representatives joined in to hand out supplies to all 500 students in Head Start through fifth grade.
In addition, humanitarian organization World Vision once again supported Concord International School by providing each child with a backpack. World Vision has been giving a backpack to every Concord student each year for the past several years.
“The Concord International School staff, families and community would like to thank these organizations for their generous donations,” said Dr. Norma Zavala, Concord principal.
Concord International is a Title I school, with about 80 percent of its students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunches.
The Seafair Clowns, Gary Merlino Construction, Stoneway Concrete and all affiliated companies have donated school supplies to numerous schools for seven years.
This year, the South Park-based companies decided it was important to support the families living in their own local community by giving all the children at Concord International School the school supplies supplies they need to be prepared to learn.
