The champion Cleveland girls and Rainier Beach boys basketball teams and their coaches visited Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee at his office and were guests at a luncheon reception March 15. Both the Cleveland Eagles girls and the Rainier Beach Vikings boys teams were Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) State 3A champions.
The governor invited each of the 12 WIAA State Basketball Championship teams to participate in the luncheon, which included a tour of the governor's executive residence and the Capitol campus.
Also attending were high school championship teams from other schools: the Toledo Indians Boys (2A), Colton Wildcats Girls (1B), Curtis Vikings Boys (4A), and the Brewster Bears Girls and Mead Panthers Girls (4A).
