Industry associations award BEX III projects for excellence
Several architect, contruction and building industry associations gave excellence awards this year for Building Excellence III (BEX III) projects at Seattle Public Schools. Seattle voters approved the $490 million capital bond in February 2007. The bond helped pay for building projects, and infrastructure and technology improvements.
• The Nathan Hale High School project won the regional Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) Project Achievement Award and was nominated for the national award;
• The Nathan Hale modernization project won an American Institute of Architects (AIA) Civic Design Merit Award;
• The Denny International Middle School/Chief Sealth International High School project, photo above, won the Council of Educational Facility Planners International (CEFPI) Regional Polished Apple Award;
• The Ingraham High School classroom addition project won an AIA Civic Design Citation Award; and
• The Hamilton International Middle School restoration project won a Masonry Institute Northwest (MINW) Honor Award.
