B.F. Day Elementary celebrates 120th birthday
B.F. Day Elementary School celebrated its 120th birthday on May 4 with a school assembly of students, staff, families and alumni.
The assembly was held inside the school where the original school bell was rung 120 times while the students counted.
The crowd sung "Happy Birthday" and "The B.F. Day Song."
B.F. Day School opened on May 2, 1892, and has the distinction of being the oldest continually operating school in the Seattle School District. The building is a designated historic landmark having undergone state-of-the-art renovation in 1991.
The B. F. Day Song
Oh, what do they say about B.F. Day?
They say it’s the Family School.
Where sharing, and caring and lending a hand,
We all form a family across the land.
Oh, what do they say about B.F. Day?
Come visit and you will see —
All our smiles
Go for miles
You’re a friend
Till the end
At B.F. Day
