Saturday Acadamy graduation
More than 150 students, teachers, family members and volunteers packed the Roxhill Elementary School cafeteria Saturday, April 7, to celebrate the graduation of students from the school's 12-week Saturday Academy.

Saturday Academy is a program introduced by Principal Camela Dellino that offers extended learning time in mathematics and reading for students Grades 3-5.

The graduation event was a celebration of knowledge and community with 44 students from Grades 3-5 receiving diplomas.  The day started with a breakfast snack at 9 a.m. , then students attended two separate sessions reviewing what they had learned, At 10:30 a.m., family and friends joined the scholars for a brunch before the graduation ceremony.

The Saturday Academy started last year, but grew even bigger, thanks to a $20,000 donation from the school’s fundraising auction last May and from a grant from the Symetra Foundation. You can help make the Saturday Academy a reality for the 2012-13 school year by either donating to or attending the annual 'Night for the Stars' fundraising auction May 4.
