Washington Middle School to hold 'Walapalooza' – dedicated to the celebration of written accomplishments
On April 12, Washington Middle School’s Language Arts department, ELL department, and World Language department will be presenting Walapalooza (Washington Language Arts Extravaganza).
Walapalooza is an annual family event dedicated to the celebration of the written accomplishments of students throughout the year.
Exceptional writers will be showcased and students are encouraged to share their writing at various open mics occurring throughout the building. Family members and staff are also encouraged to share their writings. The night includes various word activities for all ages.
A schoolwide gallery of more than 1,100 students’ writing will be posted throughout the building. Some of the activities include word games, word-relay race, poetry workshops, a student-directed spelling bee, and an all-ages, word-related board game room, giant word puzzles in various languages, student performances in world languages, and the world’s largest Scrabble.
This is a schoolwide event for students, their families and the community. All students will have a piece of writing posted and many classrooms will be directing their own classroom activities.
