Pathfinder K-8 teachers win $10,000 grant to integrate learning and technology in classrooms
A team of teachers from Pathfinder K-8 School received a $10,000 technology grant last month which will be used to help second- and third-graders learn about technology, geography, math, communication and reading.
The CenturyLink/OSPI Teachers & Technology Grant Program recognizes K-12 educators who are creative technology integrators. The program supports and recognizes educators who design a learning project that will strengthen existing curricula and integrate technology.
The teachers – Kathryn Egawa, Lisa DeBurle, Chris Lloyd, Missa Marmalstein, and Patrick Wildermann – will use the grant to develop geographic learning activities using the mapping program StrataLogica.
The second- and third-graders at Pathfinder will participate in activities, such as hunting for hidden objects on the school grounds, locating and identifying state landmarks, and reading maps in detail. The teaching team organized this multi-dimensional project around state standards for technology, geography, math, communication and reading.
