School Climate Program
Vision
To infuse positive school climate in every school.

Goals
- Implement a district-wide commitment to positive school climate.
- Develop positive school climate's school structure and training.
- Make recommendations to enhance school climate.
- Review and advise on progressive discipline programs.
- Implement discipline practices that support a positive school climate.
- Develop and implement an accountability system.
Current Initiatives
The School Climate Program oversees the Truancy and Discipline Office and works with the following grants:
- High School Graduation Initiative
- Seattle Positive Action and Reinforcement in the Classrooms
- Health and Educational Outcomes for Students
- Drug-Free Communities
The School Climate Program has also convened the Positive Climate and Discipline Advisory Committee (PCDAC), a superintendent advisory committee made up of community volunteers, social services agencies, and staff. This standing committee will provide the school district with recommendations about improving school climate, including alternatives to suspension and a review of the school district's policies and procedures.
