SPS celebrates National School Counseling Week Feb. 6-10
Seattle Public Schools joins the country in celebrating National School Counseling Week Feb. 6-10. The celebration focuses public attention on the unique contributions of school counselors and highlights the tremendous impact they have in helping students be successful and plan for a career.
Recently, Madison Middle School received a prestigious award for having the most outstanding career awareness and exploration program in the nation.
Madison counselors Lauren Divina, Linda Mundinger and Claudia Whitaker-Greenway received the National Award on Guidance-ABC Award for Career Awareness and Exploration during a Dec. 15 school assembly.
More than 29,000 school counselors nationwide will be participating in National School Counseling Week festivities. Many school counselors will be hosting special events and activities to call attention to the myriad benefits of a comprehensive school counseling program.
