Short-term capacity management plan to be introduced at Jan. 4 Board meeting
The District's proposed short-term capacity management plan to address enrollment growth will be introduced at a Jan. 4 School Board meeting. Board action is scheduled for Jan. 18.
The recommended plan, approved by the School Board’s Operations Committee Dec. 14, was developed following input from the Facilities and Capital Management Planning Advisory Committee. Comments were also taken from about 300 attendees at six community meetings held between September and December 2010, and includes about 550 written comments.
Included in the plan is a proposal to open the Boren site in West Seattle to serve as an interim site for an elementary option program. The plan also recommends installing portables at various locations throughout the District to meet capacity management needs.
