School nurses win Life Saver awards for work in helping students
At the recent state conference of the School Nurses of Washington, two nurses from Seattle Public Schools received awards:
• Jill Eckerdt of Mercer Middle School received a Life Saver Award for her use of an epi pen with a student who was having a life threatening allergic reaction; and
• Chris Cordell at Garfield High School received a Life Saver Award for her work with a suicidal student. She also received an award for her poster “ No Nooses Allowed – Keeping the Suicidal Student Safe.”
Also, Robin Fleming at Franklin High School helped lead a recent presentation at Chief Sealth High School on the “Voices of Meningitis.” Her talk highlighted the dangers of this disease and the importance of immunization.
