Nov. 3 MathFest helps students build confidence and enthusiasm in math

Nov. 1, 2011 | Audience: Families, Community, Staff | Contact: Communications, (206) 252-0200

Explorations in Math will host MathFest on Nov. 3, a festive event designed to help kids build confidence in and enthusiasm for math through interactive games in a carnival-like setting.

Twelve schools from Seattle Public Schools will participate in the fifth annual event where families will make their way through 21 play stations at Rainier Community Center. More than 1,000 elementary-age students, parents, teachers, school administrators and community members from around the region are expected to attend.

This is a one-of-a-kind event where first- through fifth-graders and their siblings venture from game to game – playing in a fully emersive math environment. While playing, students build their confidence in and enthusiasm for math, and see that the community supports their achievements.
