Blaine K-8 students celebrate National Food Day with Rooty the Carrot

Oct. 26, 2011 | Audience: Families, Community, Staff | Contact: Communications, (206) 252-0200

Rooty the CarrotSeattle Public Schools Nutrition Services Department celebrated National Food Day Oct. 24 during lunchtime at Blaine K-8 School with a special visitor, Rooty the Carrot.

Rooty encouraged students and families to eat fresh, local foods so they can build strong healthy bodies and minds.

The goal of National Food Day is to bring together Americans from all walks of life — parents, teachers and students; health professionals, community organizers and local officials; chefs, school lunch providers and consumers — to encourage the consumption of healthy, affordable food produced in a sustainable way.
