Utility Conservation Program:
Conservation Champion Award

<<back to Conservation Programs: Overview

Purpose

Highlight successful conservation actions at schools.

How it works

1. Nominate a Conservation Champion(s) in Spring.
2. All nominees will receive a certificate of appreciation and will have their nominations published online. A total of $10,000 will be awarded annually to the schools of selected nominees.  If selected, funding will be transferred to the school "Utility Conservation" budget in Spring.
3. Keep up the good work!

Nominate Conservation Champion(s)

Click on "Nominate" hightlighted in blue above, to email Nicole Laky with the nominee, school, description of why you think they are a Conservation Champion, and your name.

No nomination is too small!  Winning nominees will be chosen based on the impact their work has on students and the environment.  A school, group, or individual may be nominated multiple times for different conservation work (multiple nominations for the same project/work will not increase chances of winning).  Nominations may be for an ongoing project, a one-time project or event from last year or this year, or something you are working towards now.  Mostly, we just want to know what schools are up to so we can support that conservation work in the best possible way!

2012/13 Conservation Champions

In the Spring, we asked schools to nominate a person or group that was working to foster a culture of conservation at their school.  We received 44 wonderful nominations from schools throughout the District.  A total of $10,800 was shared with 27 winning schools to help support their work, with each school receiving $400.  We hope you find their nominations as inspiring as we did!
