Bagley, View Ridge teachers honored for outstanding work in physical education
Two elementary school teachers were recognized for their outstanding work in physical education at a conference held Oct. 14-15 at Shoreline.
Washington Alliance for Health Physical Education Recreation and Dance (WAHPERD) honored Chuck Millsap, Physical Education Specialist at Bagley Elementary and Jennifer Shaw, Physical Education Specialist at View Ridge Elementary.
• Millsap was selected as this year's 2011 Washington State Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year from a slate of many regional teachers. He is qualified to compete for the Northwest Teacher of the Year, which is selected among teacher of the year winners from five Northwest states.
• Shaw was selected and honored by the American Heart Association/WAHPERD for this year's "JUMP FOR HEART" Washington State award. Shaw contributed many hours - along with her students, staff and community - working tirelessly to educate and promote volunteerism opportunities within the community, and creating awareness for fighting heart disease and stroke.
