Roxhill Elementary students will spend several hours at a professional studio Oct. 5 recording a song that they co-wrote with critically acclaimed hip hop artist Psalm One.

Psalm OnePsalm One is participating in the ASCAP Songwriter Residency @ America SCORES, a mentorship program that provides a platform for songwriters to engage and inspire elementary and middle school students in under-resourced neighborhoods. Seattle is the second stop of her nine-city tour.

Psalm One began her three-day residency at Roxhill Elementary on Oct. 3 - spending the first two days co-writing a song with students.  They will record the song at the legendary Robert Lang Studios on the third day.

The finished song will be included on a special compilation CD that ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) produces and distributes to each of the schools involved, as well as to leaders in the music industry. (Listen to various artists' recordings from previous songwriting sessions).

She is the only woman signed to the prestigious Rhymesayers Entertainment Label and is currently working on her next album slated for release in 2012.
