Seattle registers nearly 100 percent in the College Bound Scholarship
Thank you to school staff and community partners from the Seattle College Access Network (SCAN) who worked hard to sign up eligible 7th and 8th grade students for the Washington State College Bound Scholarship.
According to the numbers provided by the Higher Education Coordinating (HEC) Board, Seattle Public Schools had 1,328 students to register and we registered 1,323 students amounting to nearly 100 % enrollment in the scholarship!
These 7th and 8th grade students now have the hope and incentive to attend college. All of these students promise to graduate from high school, demonstrate good citizenship and seek admission to a college or university. Seattle Public Schools will work hard to make sure they accomplish this pledge. This is a fabulous start on removing the greatest obstacle for these students on their path to college.
Eligible students starting 7th or 8th grade this fall may apply on-line beginning September 01 at http://1.usa.gov/college_bound.
