Ballard High wins 5th Avenue Award for Outstanding Orchestra in spring musical 'Caberet'
Ballard High School's pit orchestra won a 5th Avenue Theater Outstanding Orchestra Award June 6 for excellence in High School Musical Theater. The orchestra received the award for their spring musical, “Cabaret.”
The musical also received an Honorable Mention in the Outstanding Direction category; and Macklin Hamilton, playing the role as Bobby, won an Honorable Mention for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Featured Ensemble Role.
'Cabaret' was also nominated for Outstanding Scenic Design, Outstanding Costume Design, Outstanding Program Design and Outstanding Lighting Design. Eliza Palasz, playing the role of Sally Bowles, was nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role.
The awards were held at Benaroya Hall with more than 90 high schools from throughout the state taking part in this year’s competition. Full list of high school nominees and recipients
