10 schools to receive iPods/iPads as part of technology in the classroom grant
Ten schools will receive grants of mobile carts with 15 iPads or 30 iPods next school year which will support technology in the classroom. The schools were awarded the iPad- and iPod-cart grants after the District's Instructional Technology team reviewed more than 50 applications from teachers and administrators. Applicants had to explain how they would best use the iPads and iPods in their classrooms.
The grant recipients are:
iPod:
Denny Middle School
Sand Point Elementary
Alki Elementary
iPad:
North Beach Elementary
Pathfinder K-8
Orca K-8
Lowell Elementary
Center School
Kimball Elementary
Eckstein Middle School
In addition to the iPads/iPods, schools will receive professional development over four days during the summer, three follow-up sessions during the year, and Instructional Technology support for their curriculum projects during the course of the school year.
There were eight potential grants, but the Instructional Technology team was able to award two additional grants for a total of three iPod- and seven iPad-cart grants.
