Doug Nichols has been appointed Interim Director of Capital Programs for Seattle Public Schools.

Nichols has 40 years of experience managing a wide spectrum of public, private and federal projects while successfully leading large construction and design teams. Nichols serves as director of the Construction Services Group, which provides construction management-related services for school districts statewide.

A program of Educational Service District (ESD) 112 in Vancouver, Wash., Construction Services Group (CSG) has been offering its services to school districts in the Puget Sound region since 2006. Services offered by CSG include project management, construction management, building commissioning and energy services.

As part of his duties at SPS, Nichols will conduct a comprehensive review of all capital activities, including both planning and delivery of District capital programs. David Teater, also with ESD 112, will support Nichols in this effort.

Teater brings substantial experience in the areas of capital projects, management review and key related components, including financial services, educational specifications, enrollment, capacity and facilities planning. He has directed eight major capital construction projects, and has conducted management reviews for school districts of Oakland, Austin, Baltimore and Miami-Dade County, as well as the state education departments of Washington, Mississippi, Utah and New Mexico.
