A message from the Superintendent
May 2, 2011
Dear teachers:
Today marks the beginning of Teacher Appreciation Week, and I want to thank you for your professionalism and dedication to our students. Despite all of our challenges, you have remained steadfast in your work, ensuring our students receive the very best education we can give them.
Some of my happiest memories professionally and personally are from my days working in the classroom with my students. While I know you understand this, it cannot be said often enough – you have a tremendous impact on your students’ lives. As I am sure you can relate, I continue to hear from students I taught years ago, and I am reminded of the lasting influence of teachers.
I am grateful that so many of you have taken the time to contact me, meet with me and share your hopes, successes and concerns. I remain committed to you and our work, even in these challenging times. Quality teaching is, and always will be, at the core of Seattle Public Schools.
On behalf of the School Board and all of us throughout the District, we thank you so very much for all that you do.
With gratitude,

Dr. Susan Enfield
Interim Superintendent
Seattle Public Schools
