Chief Sealth teacher to receive Whitman College's Distinguished Teacher award

Sandi WhitonSandi Whiton, Academic Intervention Specialist at Chief Sealth International High School, was chosen as a Distinguished Elementary/Secondary Teacher for Whitman College in Walla Walla. The award is given annually at the college's commencement exercises to honor an outstanding teacher who contributed significantly to the intellectual development of their students.

The selection process begins when Whitman seniors are invited to nominate a teacher who was particularly influential in their preparation for college. In recognition of her contributions to the quality of students at Whitman College, the award will be conferred at a dinner on Saturday, May 21. Whiton will also be a part of the platform party at the 2011 Commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 22.
