Huchoosedah - Title VII Education

About the Title VII Indian Education Formula Grant Program

Huchoosedah Native Education applies annually for federally funding through the Title VII Indian Education Formula Grant program that assists Native American, Alaskan Native, and American Indian students in Seattle Public Schools in grades K-12. We believe that the academic success of Native students is grounded in a strong sense of cultural identity and belonging.

NOTICE
Jan 27th 2012,

Title VII Indian Education Grant approved for 2011-2012

We are currently doing our count and final gathering of new 506 forms for the upcoming 2012-2013 funding cycle. If you have not filled out forms for you students in Seattle Public schools, please download a copy from this page. When completed, please return to your school and they can send it intra-district mail to:

Arlie Neskahi
Native Education Program Manager
JSCEE, Mail Stop: 31-529

Our final count is due February 8th, 2012.

 Previous announcements

Our grant for 2011-12, was approved for an amount of $97,027. We will be hiring a part-time Intervention Specialist, .7 FTE and funding our program for this year. You can download a copy of the grant for review on the right.

The Parent Advisory Committee approved and signed the grant on May 6th, 2011.

Some notes about this funding. This funding is for providing supplementary educational services to eligible Native students.

The Office of Indian Education will not approve:

  • Student banquets, dinners, ceremonies
  • Student incentives, stipends, scholarships, or personal articles/items
  • Parental costs or stipends
  • Basic transportation costs of students
  • Vehicle purchases by the district

In order for the cost of an activity to be approved, it must be related to an objective that is based on a documented student need.

I want to thank everyone who submitted ED 506 forms for this year’s funding. We were able to increase our funding by $20,000! We will be writing the application based on the federal allocation of $97,021 pending the approval of our application.

Great Job! Let’s keep letting parents know about the 506 forms. We need to keep increasing our numbers. Our funding goes down with each students that leaves the district or graduates.

See you the meetings,
