The McDonald Elementary and Queen Anne Elementary Unicycle Club performs at the Bicycle Expo.
The newly formed McDonald Elementary and Queen Anne Elementary Unicycle Club helped kick off the Bicycle Expo this year with the Cascade Bicycle Club. The young group, including four kindergarten riders, partnered with Cascade on March 13, for two unicycle performances.

The team is led by health and fitness teacher Brent Roberts. The group of almost 20 riders had never ridden a unicycle before last October. They all demonstrated determination in learning to ride. The riders had set goals and work to achieve them with daily practice in the weeks that led up to the performance at the Bicycle Expo.

Roberts said that there are many benefits from unicycling, including improved core strength, balance and stability; cardiorespiratory endurance; and confidence-building. Roberts recently finished a bicycle unit with McDonald and Queen Anne Elementary students that was also supported by the Cascade Bicycle Club. Roberts helped more than 50 students learn to ride during the three-week unit.
