Michael James, the Ballard High School Director of Bands and Orchestras, is one of five band directors from throughout the nation selected to receive a full scholarship to Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Band Director Academy from June 24-27 in New York City.
James was chosen for this honor based on the high quality of the recording that the Ballard Jazz Band submitted to the Essentially Ellington Jazz Festival. The scholarship includes the $350 registration fee for the Academy, round-trip airfare, and a five-night stay at a hotel in New York City.
