TV documentary features Northgate Elementary, Washington Middle School; encore presentation on bullying prevention airs March 26
Northgate Elementary and Washington Middle School are featured as part of a KIRO-TV documentary related to bullying at 8 p.m., Saturday, March 26. The documentary – titled "Bullying: Breaking the Cycle" – originally aired March 17 and tells the stories of local students and schools, and explores solutions.
A growing number of young people are faced with the fear of being bullied every day. Recognizing this, KIRO produced a documentary that tells their stories and delves into the many aspects of the new wave of this age-old problem. Bullying takes many forms, ranges from seemingly harmless name-calling to physical violence. It can occur in the classroom, on the playground and online.
The KIRO 7 Family Connection Special Presentation, explores what bullying looks like in 2011. Who bullies, and who gets bullied? Why? What do parents need to know? What are educators doing about it? What can we all do to break the cycle?
