On Jan. 21, in celebration of Black History Month, third-graders at Beacon Hill International School heard a first-hand account of the historic civil rights march on Washington, D.C. led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Students eagerly gathered around former Seattle School Board member and education activist Dorothy Hollingsworth who told them what it meant to be a participant of the march and hear the famous "I Have a Dream" speech.

Natalie Long, the Family Support Worker at Beacon Hill and granddaughter of Mrs. Hollingsworth, said that the students were excited to meet someone who actually attended the event and was able to recount vivid details of a the moment in time.

Mrs. Hollingsworth's visit and oral history lesson was a culmination of the students' studies about the civil rights movement and historic march.
