Angel Corpuz, a student at Dunlap Elementary School, and Grace Corsi, a student at Hamilton International Middle Schools, were winners of the 2011 Neighbor Appreciation Day student art contest. Each year, K-12 students from all over Seattle submit their artwork reflecting the theme of Neighbor Appreciation Day and show what it means to be caring and active neighbors.
The 1st-, 2nd-, 3rd-place and Honorable Mention winners were hosted at a special awards ceremony on Feb. 12, where they are recognized by Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn, Councilmember Mike O’Brien, and the students' families and teachers. The artwork of 1st-place winners – Angel and Grace – are featured on the official Neighbor Appreciation Day free greeting cards and e-cards.
