Aki Kurose rowers pull together in 'Ergomania' contest

Fourteen students from Aki Kurose Middle School competed last weekend in Ergomania, an indoor rowing contest – with several of the students winning medals and ribbons for their efforts. The competition – which attracted about 425 rowers of all ages – was held Feb. 5 at Seattle University's Connolly Center. The indoor rowers competed in various categories and distances for the fastest times. Aki Kurose medal winners were: Jack Choulphan, Aaliyah Dickerson and Carlos James. Ribbon winners were: Colleen Icalla, Miguel Laureno and Yohannes Tassaw. Other Aki Kurose students who did well in the competition were: Thomas Le, Tresean Levias, Angel Martin, David Pham, Josh Robancho, Eugene Ruff, Coby S. and Eden Tassaw.
