Community volunteers sought for Classroom and Business Technology Advisory Committee; deadline to apply is August 21
Seattle Public Schools is seeking unpaid volunteers to serve on the newly formed Classroom and Business Technology Advisory Committee (CABTAC) for a one year commitment.
The committee’s primary purpose is to advise the superintendent and Seattle Public Schools staff as it conducts its technology planning based on technology in education innovations and technology needs in the classroom, schools and central office.
The committee’s work will include a periodic evaluation of - and input to - the District’s ongoing technology planning activities and implementation of the technology strategic plan. Areas of engagement may include technology infrastructure, classroom technologies, business processes, and business intelligence.
The committee will meet once every two weeks initially for the first two months and then monthly meetings for the remainder of the year with the possibility of additional meetings on special issues after the start-up period.
District staff will facilitate the meetings. The committee will have co-chairpersons consisting of one volunteer member and one staff member. A typical meeting will include a staff presentation on the status of one or more planning issues, followed by an opportunity for committee comment. Staff will review committee input and include it in the planning process.
SPS parents, community members, non-District public agency planning staff and private sector individuals with applicable technology expertise are encouraged to apply.

Selection and notification of advisory committee members will occur no later than August 22. The first meeting is scheduled for 3:30-5:30 p.m., Thursday, August 23 in Room 2010 of the John Stanford Center, 2445 3rd Ave. S.
