2013-14 School Calendar
The School Board's Executive Committee has recommended that the full Board at its May 15 meeting approve a tentative calendar for the 2013-14 school year.
The Seattle Education Association (SEA) is also scheduled to vote on the tentative 2013-14 calendar at its meeting on May 13.
The calendar is subject to negotiations and is not final until it is approved by both the School Board and the SEA.
The final 2013-14 school calendar will be posted on the District website and a news release will be sent out to families, staff, media and the community as soon as it is approved.

Calendar Development
The Seattle Public Schools calendar is developed in cooperation with all of the bargaining groups representing Seattle Public Schools employees. The calendar is structured to provide a full week of instruction following spring break and before the beginning of the spring testing period. The calendar also provides specific dates that will be used as make-up days in the event that inclement weather necessitates school closures.
Wall Calendar and Family Guide
Every year, Seattle Public Schools publishes 55,000 wall calendars, which are mailed to families, staff and community members. Not only does the calendar include key school dates, but it contains a family resource guide with important information about transportation, lunch menus, testing schedules and key contact information.
After the School Board in June 2012 approved revisions to the District’s advertising policy, the Communications team sought paid sponsors for our 2012-13 wall calendar. Revenue earned from calendar sponsorship will defray calendar production costs. Without this money, the district would eventually have to stop publishing the calendar.
