Wedgwood

Using data to inform decision-making is a priority at Seattle Public Schools. There are many ways to gather and report the progress of our students and schools, including district and state assessments, student achievement and outcome data, surveys of staff, students and families, and from the classroom teacher. Each piece provides a "snapshot" of how well students and schools are performing. With each additional "snapshot" the picture becomes clearer and new strategies can be implemented. The following are a list of the public reports for each individual school and a description of what you can find.

REPORTS

School Reports

Starting in the fall of 2010, SPS issued individual School Reports. The School Reports give a snapshot in time of important information for each school so parents, students and the community can learn from and act on the data. You can read about your school's academic growth, student climate, accountability, family and staff engagement, goals and overall school performance. We hope you also take time to read the narrative page, where each school documents the steps it's taking to ensure every student is achieving. To learn more about the School Reports please click here: School Reports To learn about how Seattle Public Schools groups schools by levels to provide a consistent way of looking at school performance across the system, click here: Segmentation: Using Data to Group Schools and Create Improvement Plans.

Select School Report By Year

Annual Reports

Annual reports were the precursor to the annual School Reports. We no longer produce this report, but annual reports from previous years can be found here. The annual reports included school goals, an overview of the school's programs, demographics, academic achievement, and other student outcome measures such as graduates and disciplinary actions. The last annual report was produced for the 2008-2009 school year, with the 2009-2010 School Report as the new school overview tool.

Summary state assessment data is provided by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction by state, district and school. A search feature filters the data by the year administered, subject(s), grade(s) and type of display. Additionally student demographic and teacher information is available.

SURVEYS

Since 2006, we have publicly released school surveys given to staff and students. In the 2009-2010 school year, we released one report that includes the combined staff, student and family survey responses. The staff and student surveys are given to respective groups in person at schools, and the family survey was given via a home telephone survey which occurs in the spring. An overview of the responses can be found on the school reports above. Please note that the 2009-10 surveys have been significantly redesigned and are not directly comparable to previous years' survey results.

STATE TESTING

Every Spring, the state tests all students in grades 3-8 and 10 to monitor and evaluate student academic progress. The Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) was superseded by the Measurement of Student Progress (MSP) for grades 3-8 and the High School Proficiency Exam (HSPE) for grade 10 starting in Spring 2010.

CONTINUOUS SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN

The Continuous School Improvement Plan, CSIP, is an action plan for each school that identifies the areas a school plans to focus on in the current and coming school year, the performance goals they want students to achieve, and how the school plans to collaboratively meet these goals. The plans are updated regularly to reflect the strategies being used at each school. This document also serves as the school-wide improvement plan for our Title I schools.
