About the Source

The Source is a resource for families, teachers, administrators, and students to collaborate for academic achievement.  Parents and guardians must register to create an account.  Students will receive an account at school and will log onto the Source with their student account.  
If your student did not receive their student account, please have them see their school librarian.

Where to log onto the Source:   
Parents, guardians and students log on here:  http://ps.seattleschools.org

How to register:   
You must be the parent or guardian of a student currently attending a Seattle Public School.  You will need a valid email address, each student's 7 digit Seattle Schools student ID# (found on your registration paperwork), date of birth and school.  Once you enter this information, you will be emailed each student's unique Access ID and Access Password to create your account.  Please use your valid email address as your Source username. 

  1. Please go to http://ps.seattleschools.org
  2. Click the Create Account button
    NOTE:  If your school mailed you code, please click here and skip to step 8.
  3. Enter your valid email address, each student's 7 digit Seattle Schools student ID#, date of birth and school.  If you have more than one student, click Add Another Student
  4. Click Done after you have entered all of your students who actively attend a Seattle Public School
  5. Wait a few minutes and look for an email message from sourcesupport
  6. Open the email and make note of the Access ID and Access Password for each student
  7. Click the second link in the email, or copy and paste it in your browser
  8. Enter your name, valid email address and create a password.  Please do not use an apostrophe ' in your password.  Your email address will be your Source username
  9. Enter each student's name
  10. Enter each student's unique Access ID and Access Password you were emailed
  11. Use the drop-down to select your relationship to each student
  12. Click Enter when you are done

Can more than one parent or guardian use the same Access ID and Access Password? 
Yes.  The Access ID and Access Password are linked to the student, so each parent or guardian of that student may use the same Access ID and Access Password to register.

Trouble registering? 

If you are unable to register, please email: sourcesupport@seattleschools.org.  In the email, please include:

  1. Your full name and relationship to each student
  2. Each student's full name
  3. Each student's 7 digit Seattle Schools student ID#
  4. The school each student attends

Is a student missing from your account?   

  1. Please log onto your Source account at: http://ps.seattleschools.org
  2. Click Add Students from the left menu
  3. Click the here link
    NOTE:  If your school mailed you code, please skip to step 9.
  4. Enter the email address you use to log onto the Source , the student's 7 digit Seattle Schools student ID#, date of birth and school.  If you need to add more than one student, click 
    Add Another Student
  5. Click Done after you have entered all of your students who actively attend a Seattle Public School who are missing from your account
  6. Wait a few minutes and look for an email message from sourcesupport@seattleschools.org
  7. Open the email and make note of the Access ID and Access Password for each student
  8. Go back to your Souce account.  Make sure Add Students is still selected
  9. Click the Add+ button on the right
  10. Enter each student's name, Access ID and Access Password.  Use the drop-down to select your relationship to each student.  Access Password should be entered in UPPER CASE, no spaces
  11. Click Submit.  Click Add + if you have more students to add

Have you forgotten your Source username or password? 

  1. Go to: http://ps.seattleschools.org
  2. Click the Forgot username or password? link
  3. Follow the steps

NOTE:  The day after you change your Source password, please update your SchoolFusion website password as well.  Please see Setting up and/or changing your SchoolFusion website password below. 
Please do not use an apostrophe ' in your password.

Password or username reminder did not generate a response? 
If the password reset feature is not working for you, please email: sourcesupport@seattleschools.org to request assistance.  In the email, please include:

  1. Your full name and relationship to each student
  2. Each student's full name
  3. Each student's 7 digit Seattle Schools student ID#
  4. The school each student attends

Having trouble seeing assessment scores or library information? 
If you are having trouble seeing assessment scores or library information, you may have a firewall blocking access or a browser that is not supported by the vendor.  Please click here to learn more.

Is the Source and the SchoolFusion school website the same thing? 
The Source and SchoolFusion school websites are two different software programs joined by a link.  SchoolFusion is another tool teachers use to communicate with families and students.  The link between the two systems exports your Source username (email address) to SchoolFusion overnight.  Passwords must be managed in each system individually.  The day after you setup your Source account, please log onto the Source and setup your SchoolFusion school website password.  Please see Setting up and/or changing your SchoolFusion website password for more information.

Logging onto your school website (SchoolFusion)

  1. Locate your school website
  2. Enter your Source email address in the Username field
  3. Enter your Source password in the Password field
  4. Click Login

Setting up and/or changing your SchoolFusion website password:
The day after you setup your Source account, you may setup your SchoolFusion website password.  SchoolFusion is another tool to help you stay in touch with your student's progress in school.

NOTE:  These steps also apply if you change your Source password.  The day after you successfully change your Source password, please change your SchoolFusion password as described below.

  1. Go to the Source at: http://ps.seattleschools.org and log on
  2. Click the School Information & Website link from the left menu
  3. Click the Enable or Change Your School Website Password link
  4. Enter your Source username (email address) in the Email Address field and click Submit
  5. Close the window, do not click the back arrow on your browser
  6. In about 10 minutes, you will receive an email from sourcesupport@seattleschools.org
  7. Open the email and click the link
  8. In both password fields, type in your Source password and click Submit
  9. Close your email
  10. Go to your school website.  This is where you will log onto your SchoolFusion classpage.  Please log on using your Source username and password
