Academics

Cleveland High School GraduatesWe are committed to the academic achievement of every child in every school. Our academic program is grounded in standards-based curriculum, strong, targeted instruction delivered by highly qualified teachers.

Curriculum

We create and deliver a rigorous, standards-based curriculum. Our English language arts and math teaching is grounded in College and Career Readiness Standards (Common Core). We are working on updating our core program pages to reflect new standards, and those links will be posted here when they are ready.

The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction's Curriculum and Instruction web site contains detailed information about grade-level expectations for Washington state.

For more information on standards, visit our Common Core page.

Updated Elementary Progress Report for 2014-15

We are excited to introduce the updated elementary progress report, designed to reflect our College and Career Readiness Standards (Common Core).  The purpose of the report is to provide regular and clear communication about your student’s progress. Please see the following resources for more information

Graduation Requirements and College and Career Readiness

Graduation requirements vary slightly depending on the graduation year of the student. For more information visit our Graduation Bulletin page.

There are many steps students should take to be prepared for college. No matter where a student is in the college admission process, this our College and Career Readiness information will help them prepare.

Testing and Performance

Our teachers use a variety of methods to monitor the academic growth of students and track their progress over time. Students take state-mandated tests, such as Smarter Balanced, and district-wide assessments, such as the mClass Beacon or MAP assessments, that help teachers and administrators make data-driven decisions about instruction, staff training needs, and each school's annual Continuous School Improvement Plan.
