Boundary Changes for 2018-19 School Year

Changes are scheduled for portions of the Adams, Loyal Heights and Whittier boundaries for the 2018-19 school year. These changes are related to the expansion of Loyal Heights Elementary. These are not changes for next year (2017-18).

The opening of Magnolia Elementary has been delayed to an estimated opening of fall 2019. Changes will be proposed for some or all schools in the Magnolia and Queen Anne area. Magnolia was previously estimated to open in fall 2018. These are not changes for next year (2017-18).

There are no middle or high school boundary changes scheduled for 2018-19 at this time.

Elementary changes related to the expansion of Loyal Heights Elementary

Loyal Heights Elementary School is undergoing renovations and an expansion. There are approved boundary changes for Adams, Loyal Heights and Whittier elementary schools for the 2018-19 school year.

Changes are proposed to include the northeast corner of the current Whittier attendance area in the new expanded Loyal Heights attendance area.

A community meeting about these boundary changes is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 21 at Ballard High School. Please see the Loyal Heights Elementary School Boundaries page for details, maps and meeting information.

Elementary changes related to the opening of Magnolia Elementary School

Magnolia School will open as an elementary school to help relieve current and future capacity challenges in the Catharine Blaine K-8, Coe, and Lawton attendance areas. This opening may impact boundaries for all elementary schools in the Magnolia/Queen Anne neighborhoods. While these changes were previously planned for 2018-19, they are now anticipated to be implemented for the 2019-20 school year. Please see the Magnolia Elementary School Boundaries page for details.
